Jumped the gun a bit. Everyone is assuming you're playing at 1920x1080 or less, but just to make sure, what resolution are you playing at?

If the about is true, then your rig will max most games for a while (Crysis 3 cannot be maxed at 1920x1080 without a seriously ridiculous rig, but you'll be able to run it pretty high)

hd 7970 vapor-x>r9 280x vapor-x
And i can say that with full confidence, since i did the test 3 days ago at my local shop.

And i forgot to mention i would still be a little weary of the r9 or r7 series, nobody can answer why is it cheaper than the 7000 series, since the 280x is basically the hd 7970 ghz edition, is it the same chip but was kept in a storage somewhere or what.

Yes, but there is a 60 dollar difference with negligible performance gain.

Edit: I mean 60 dollar difference between the R9 280x and the 7970 vaporx

Again i would still not risk with the r9, its all too shady for me

And also if you count in the free games, you can sell those and in the end the 7970 could be 40 to 60$ cheaper
