I have an old system I was able to put together for free, and I had a question about putting in a GTX 560 TI. I have a Core 2 Extreme x6800 and I was wondering if I would get any bottlenecking if I put in a GTX 560 TI? I have googled this over and over and haven't found much so I thought I'd ask here and see what you all say :) Thanks in advance!

Hi i have a QX6850 EXTREME overclocked in the bios from 3.0 ghz to 3.67 ghz and 8 gigs of ddr2 ram and an 860 sli motherboard and i dropped in a ASUS GeForce GTX 660 DirectCU II OC 2GB GDDR5 which totally improved my gaming ability, i play world of tanks and i had 2 gtx 8800 in sli mode and could only play in low mode in the standard graphic mode, now i can play in the improved mode with most of everything running at maximum, also our cpu,s are nearly the same so i think you will good to go, also i am sure that its not being bottlenecked by my cpu cos while i am gaming my gpu is running at 100%....i have just posted a question asking if i bought another gtx 660 and ran in sli mode would i see even more gains or would i be asking to much...

I'm pretty sure you would experience some bottlenecking. It probably wouldn't be the best option for the price, perhaps a 550 would make more sense. What games/tasks do you wish to run on this system?

I don't run any demanding games or tasks, I do play a lot of games but not hugely demanding ones, since I know for a lot of games today you need a quad core. I play a lot of Skyrim and Guild Wars 2, and other games like those. So not all the latest games. I am going to be building a new system next year so I will be using the GPU in that one too. I was just wondering if it would severely bottleneck this system.

Should be a fairly good balance, you might get bottlenecks either way in different games, but neither is overpowered for the other.

The 560 ti will definitely improve your performance but you most likely won't be able to run Skyrim on ultra until you build a new PC with a better processor.

If you are building a new PC in the near future I would definitely invest in a good GPU. The 560 Ti is good but if you are planning on running any high-end upcoming titles on ultra you may want to spend a little more money. Nvidia 760 and Radeon HD 7950 are both very good graphics cards for around $250. If you can't spend that much a Radeon 7850 is good for around $150, or even the 650 Ti Boost for around $120. Once again the 560 Ti is good but I would recommend spending a little extra and getting one of the above cards if you're planning on using the card in a new build. Even the 650 Ti boost will be significantly better. I'm getting off topic though. :)

I had SLi'd 560Ti's running on an E8400 for a while and that ran games as smooth as butter, if the CPU "bottlenecks" the game play will stutter like crazy and be unbearable.
