Hi,

It sounds like the overclock the ASUS tweak software set in the BIOS isn't stable.

Some 280X's have a BIOS switch next to the crossfire fingers, if your does then turn the PC off and flick that switch and it should load the second BIOS.

Alternatively is it possible to set your card's stock speeds in ASUS tweak and then click "Burn to BIOS"?

Thanks for your reply

Just tried flicking that switch next to the crossfire fingers its labelled 'dip', still aftifacting after i flick it. I have also tried setting the card back default and clicking burn...still artifacting (have also tried its safe mode button but asus tweak just recovers original settings when you load windows)

I had no issues when card was first installed. its ever since I clicked 'burn' on the gamer profile

Is there any way I can reset the gpu bios outside of asus tweak?

It's strange because it plays games and runs furmark fine

What PSU model do you have? Do you have the latest drivers?

Yep lastest drivers were on the disk it came with as asus isn't showing drivers for matrix 280x on there website yet

Not sure, but may be marginal, the PSU shows 660 on the 12v rail, and don't know what CPU, but ifAMD, say a 8350, AMD recommends a 750 watt. Do you have or could you borrow a better PSU to try?

Its only running a FX-4300 which draws 95 watts, unfortunately not I don't have higher watt psu any I can borrow. I was thinking its more software/ bios related as it was booting fine before I clicked 'burn'. Now If I try and burn it back to default settings it still artifacts

Perhaps the idle power state isn't stable anymore but the 3D power state is...
If you've tried the other BIOS on the card and that's still not working then maybe the ASUS tweak software flashed both BIOS's.

You could manually flash the card but you'd need to get hold of the original BIOS file for your card, I think techpowerup have a BIOS archive you could check out.

However if it was me I'd test the card on another computer and if you had the same issue then I would RMA it.

Hi, I registered to this forum just to let you know I've encountered the same problem prior to reading your thread and out of some luck I managed to recover! I hope this will help you.

Here's what I did.

I changed my mobo bios to boot using integrated graphic change your cable to the mobo graphics port.

flashed to the bios provided here http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/146165/asus-r9280x-3... using winflash with the "-f -p 0" switches

BUT don't reboot just yet.

go to run and type msconfig

uncheck Asus vga burn tool (or something like that)

then finally reboot, go to bios change back to your graphics card display and switch your cable back to the card's port

and it should be fine.

My english is not quite good so if you need me to explain a little more let me know.

Hope this work for you.
