I think I overheated my laptop and it is now very slow and taking ages to start up, it goes to log in screen then just hangs o

One of the Ram has fried.
Cpu is fine.

It is on windows 8 with 2off 4gb ram. Defo 1off these?? What is the best way to check which one is cooked

If you have an access to the rams physically, only then it is possible to see the faulted one.

Checked ram on another laptop and tried other ram in my laptop other one functioning fine and mine is just same, booting up to windows 8 start screen then hanging, but taking forever to get to start up screen, like 10 minutes ages. Any advice plz

Did you try and reformat the hard drive as their could be malware or a virus that could of slowened it down greatly.

Hard drive killed itself. HP replaced under warranty
