will windows 8 work with a desktop computer if I dont have a touchscreen?

Solution
Yes. I've been doing it since Win8 came out. It works especially well if you have dual screens. At boot, tiles appear on one screen, desktop on the other. One mouse click on the desktop half banishes the tiles until you want them.

And Win 8.1 returns the possibility to boot directly into the desktop, instead of the tile interface.
