So im looking to upgrade my motherboard to a regular ATX build since my current one is a smaller/compact one. I was wondering if i can do this without losing my data on my harddrives (including windows) ?

Switching motherboards usually only goes smoothly when the new motherboard is built using the same chips as the current one, or chips that take the same driver set as currently installed.

Whether this will work for you or not, it is highy recommended to back up anythig that you consider important to you, and have the ability to reinstall your OS and applications if things do not go smoothly.

While the data may still be present on your hard drive(s) after a failed upgrade, you may need a working computer to regain access to it.

There could also be potential licencing issues with Windows when changing motherboards.
