All of my apps have disappeared. I can move the mouse to the right screen and get some of the controls but most of it won't work. All programs are inaccessible, fortunately I had a 2nd login account and was able to gain access to my files only (pics, video, music, ebooks and docs). Has anybody else had this problem? how do you get them back without doing a restore?

Have you tried going into SAFE MODE, if they show up there it may be Malware - run malwarebytes..... if the still don't show up try opening task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) select new task and enter EXPLORER see if that brings them back if so, then ope a command prompt as administrator and run SFC /SCANNOW
