hye all... i just want to ask all of u a simple question... if i have 150w~200w psu... and trying to attach and install gpu sapphire radeon hd 7750 which shows min req power 400w on box... when turn on pc, monitor shows no signal vga/dvi ( the gpu fan spinning, tower led and sound like usual turn on ) ... another is, hd7750 is 3.0 pcie and my mobo is 2.0pcie.... so the question is, will the power supply is the reason of monitor doesnt get the signal?.... or because of pcie slot?... (i believe pcie is backward compatible)..

i hope i can get answer from all of u... >.<

Solution
There's a reason the box said "400w". As smorizio said, you don't have enough power.

Yes, PCI Express is backwards compatible, but your computer has more problems than backward compatibility. Put in a more powerful power supply, and everything should work.

You get what you pay for. IE don't go buying a 20 dollar 500w PSU and expect everything to be fine. Grab a good unit from the likes of Corsair, Seasonic, Antec... Couple others but way to tired... SOME specific XFX and rosewill models (the hive series is all I can remember off the top of my head)

If I had to pick a specific model to recommend, the fan favorite is pretty much these:

Personally I'd grab the 620w modular just because its not much more expensive and its a great unit, also... Modular.

roji90,

You need to post your complete computer hardware list.

FWIW. the 7750 doesn't need a 400W power supply, despite what the box says. What it needs is ~4A from the +12V rail and any good quality power supply can do that. I personally run the exact card you have on a 150W Antec power supply, so it can be done. However, it greatly depends on what else you have in your computer drawing power off the +12V rail.

Parts list please. Include the make and model of PSU.

tq for your reply... as you said..it seems not from psu... since ive bought a new good unit psu... so im gonna list up my list here...

Operating System: Windows 8 Single Language 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200)
System Manufacturer: Acer
System Model: Aspire MC605
BIOS: P11-A4
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G2030 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
PSU: Master cooler extreme2 525...

This should have been asked early on to verify, but where do you have your monitor plugged in when you have the card installed? Did you plug it into the video card or do you still have it plugged into the video port on the motherboard?

I suggest you go to the Acer website and check to see if there is an updated BIOS for your computer. If there is, install it and try the card again. After a quick check, it looks like BIOS P11.A4 is the most recent version for your Acer model.

is there any possibilities that my windows is windows8 and the card did not work with windows 8?..since the g.card box says operating system windows7,windows vista, windows xp... and theres no windows8 mention?... im a first timer windows8 user...and it seems surprisingly, windows 8 boot up preety fast compare to the previous windows... but is it possible that its because of windows?,but when boot up there not even a chance to look at bios or anything since no signal on monitor (gpu plugged)...

Sapphire has posted Windows 8 drivers on their website for that card, so it's a safe bet that Windows 8 is supported.

I've come across a number of threads in which people are having the same problem with the MC605 but none offer a real solution:

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1812839/sapphire-7750-plug-monitor-signal-detected-vga-dvi.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1678601/graphic-card-upgrade.html
http://community.acer.com/t5/Desktops-All-In-Ones/Acer-Aspire-MC605-intall-graphics-card-no-display/td-p/103811

I suggest you update your MC605 BIOS, and if that doesn't work maybe contact Acer customer support.

thanks for reply sir...umm may i know how to update bios?... i came to see some post that u link to me and ive seen one comment says its work by updating it to uefi bios..

Both motherboards and video cards have a BIOS that sometimes can be updated. Acer has posted a BIOS update for your model (P11.A4), but Sapphire does not have a BIOS update for the video card.

To update your MC605 BIOS:

  • ■Go to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
■Enter MC605 in the Product Model field, select "Aspire MC605" from the dropdown list
■Select Windows 8 in the OS dropdown list
■Click on the "BIOS" tab below
■Click on "Download" for the BIOS for Windows.

The file downloaded is a zip file that contains a document to give you instructions for flashing your BIOS.

thx for the guide... so on the bios for windows list theres two type ver.
1) AcerBIOS for Linux - UEFI for Windows 8 (Not for Upgrades) P11.A4L
2) AcerBIOS - UEFI for Windows 8 (Not for Upgrades) P11.A4
which one should i download between these two?

may i ask...how do i know if my spahhire is uefi or not?... and what if my sapphire is not uefi and my bios is uefi?...could it be the reason that its not respond?...

UPDATE: i just came across some issue from others forum... there are some one who have the same problem as me... his system has a UEFI bios... and he said he came to know that his gpu didnt support UEFI bios... so he changed to legacy bios and it seems his gpu worked and his problem solved... i hope that the reason is that my gpu also didnt support uefi bios and need legacy bios to make it worked.... but the question is...how can i changed to legacy bios?

UPDATE: thx all for ur help and for respond on my thread... i managed to solved my problem and it seems that my graphic is not supported to UEFI...and i changed it to legacy in bios.... and it seems monitor gain signal and i managed to install my gpu...thx alot for the respond.... =))
