I want to build a desktop, I don't have an exact budget (I'm hoping to spend 1,000$ at most on it) , but only needs to meet the portal 2 minimum requirements and it would be best if I could upgrade it in the future. I've tried looking into building it my self, but I don't know enough about who is reputable and who isn't, and what's compatible and what isn't. If anyone could give me a motherboard to build off of, or give me a list of what to get I could use, it would be a major help. Sorry to be a bother, but thanks in advance!
Portal 2 minimum requirements:
OS: Windows 7 / Vista / XP
Processor: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 (or higher) or AMD64X2 (or higher)
Memory: 1GB XP / 2GB Vista
Hard Disk Space: At least 7.6 GB of Space
Video: Video card must be 128 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel Shader 2.0b (ATI Radeon X800 or higher / NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or higher / Intel HD Graphics 2000 or higher).
Audio: DirectX 9.0c compatible

As far a building a PC goes, just "Google it". There is so much info out there, replies on here... best for a specific problem only.

But an idea...humm, Portal 2 minimum = very old. So you don't need anything high-end, but you might as well stay current. You can't really buy old tech anyway... you don't want to go used on ebay.

LGA 1155 motherboard. And a Intel 2nd(Sandy) or 3rd(Ivy) generation i3 or i5.
I'd grab an Asus board. They are arguably the best, although I'm not saying to get there top of the line series(RoG). You just want quality and the sweet UEFI(bios is dead).
