Currently I have a hand-me-down Radeon 3800 that has so far had problems with overheating while playing
-Hard Reset
-Saints Row 3
-Minecraft while in a heavily wooded area with graphics set to "fancy"

While I'm sure a once over with some compressed air would do the trick, I'd still like to see what video cards would be better while staying on the low end of the price spectrum.

My Computer specs are
Intel Core i3-3240 CPU @ 3.4 GHz
6.00 GB RAM
Windows 8 64 bit

If you need more information let me know how to find it and I'll get it.

You can go with a radeon hd 7790.Its a very good card and allows you to play latest titles like crysis 3 and bioshock infinite at high setting at 1080p.Here's a link of the gigabyte version cause I personally like gigabyte more than anyone because of their
1.Windforce 1x,2x,3x cooling keep the temperatures down and so headroom for over clocking.
2.24x7 customer service
3.Qualified japanese materials
4.all overclocked by gigabyte and the user can overclock it too for a bit better performance using their OC Guru 2.
