Gen 4 supposedly has better battery life, has a better igp, (probably the best part of Gen 4 vs Gen 3) and is generally 5-10% faster than Gen3. For everyday use, you wouldn't really tell the difference. I would just get the one that best fits your budget and has the other specs you are looking for. Gen 4 isn't really a drastic leap.
