I already own a monitor, speakers, keyboard, and mouse.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
I prefer Amazon or Newegg.
If Newegg, I'd like to get as much items as possible and order all at once ($20 to ship to Hawaii.. seriously!?)
If you know any deals on video cards, post em up!
Will be ordering this friday.
Thanks!

Hey I remember you from my previous thread :p
This is my first build and I want something I can upgrade with as time goes on, but as for now I'd like a nice build for awhile.
Yeah the GPU is a bit low but I'm looking for deals. Suggestions for GPU?
The MSI Radeon HD 7870 GHz Ed you suggested yesterday is a bit too much, unless I drop something from the build.

I just want a quality mobo that won't flake out on me.
I've made some changes. Any suggestions for the mobo/gpu?
And should i get the fx-8120 over the fx-6300?
Yes it is. I have time to get some cash while waiting for my parts to arrive so I will be getting the OS last.

For the same price, i could get the extreme4. Should i take the shot?

The only advantage of the extreme 4 is that it can run two graphics cards . If its the same price as the Extreme 3 then sure buy it , otherwise it really wont add much to a build in this price range .

Just make sure you avoid the FX 8120 . Its a poor performer even compared to the 6300 .

Alright i appreciate it.
Shoyld i get a cpu cooler also? Or would the stock one be sufficient?

Wait.. before buying anything have a look at this build. You can buy a lot of power for the same budget.

+ 7950 is a beast for gaming, 3GB VRAM, 384 Bit bus, Also comes with 3 free games.
+ 8GB RAM is ideal for gaming. I really do not recommend the single channel 4GB RAM at all.
+ The M5A97 LE board does not have heatsinks on the VRM and hence you cannot overclock on it.
+ Hence the Asrock Extreme 4 board is an awesome choice instead of the Asus board.

I hope this helps.
Take a look at the build and tell me what you think about it. Your feedback would be highly appreciated.

I'm looking at sticking with Corsair for the PSU, and trying to stay away from newegg (shipping is ridiculous to Hawaii).
I can always add in another stick of ram.
I might actually look into that GPU though, thanks!

Alrighty heres the dealio.
I want to build a gaming/editing PC under $600 (I already own a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, case).
I have a NZXT Source 210 Elite case.

I'm not really planning on overclocking, so is a CPU cooler necessary?

I wanted to have a "future-proof" CPU/mobo and build around it.
What I wanted to build around was a:
AMD FX-8320 ~$153.61
ASRock 970 EXTREME4 ATX AM3+ Mobo ~$102.53 (Only item I'm ordering from Newegg, shipping is about $20 to Hawaii).
That totals up to $256.14. I'd have $343.86 left for RAM, HDD, GPU, Wireless network adapter, and PSU.
Don't worry about the OS. I can get Win8 for $69.99 as a college student, but I'll buy that after I get all my parts.

I'd really like to find better deals on these items/price drops you know of (ex: GPU).
I want to stay away from Newegg, and try to stay with Amazon the most (free shipping to Hawaii (-:).
The mobo was chosen because of the reviews for it (I'm a person who highly looks into reviews).

Regarding the GPU, I'm looking for something that'll last me a year or two until I upgrade it.
I've been playing on a Toshiba-c855 laptop and an Acer aspire (sick of crappy computers!).
This is my first PC where I can actually enjoy games (hopefully!) without playing on minimum settings with 30fps.
I'm hoping to max out on most games.
Muchos gracias.

What do you mean?
Also I could save $20 and just get the Asus M5A97.

Wait.. if you are not going to overclock, then the FX 6350 would be better for gaming. It performs better than the 8320 when it comes to gaming, so you might want to consider that because the stock clocks are high.

Also if you are not going to overclock, then get the Asus M5A97 L.E board which is quite cheap and would do fine if you don't want to overclock. And for non-overclocking needs even the MSI 970A G46 would do just fine.

And yeah, the stock cooler would do just fine if you are not overclocking.

Yeah, look for the 7950 on other sites, it is just a little bit more on other sites. Also it is a very good GPU and would do just fine for like next 2 years even for the hardcore gamers.

And for casual gamers, it would do more than 3 years just fine.

FX 6300: $118.99
FX 6350: $139.99
is it worth the extra $21?
FX 8320: $144.99 ($5 more than the 6350)

I actually just placed an order on
Gigabyte 970A-D3P mobo: $69.99
G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL Ripjaws 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 240PIN DIMM Memory: $68.46
Corsair CX 600w: $39.99
Shipping: ~$32.71
So for these items I'm set.

I encountered problems cancelling an Amazon order so I won't be refunded until monday or tuesday so for the time being I may be able to get a ~$200 GPU (or lower, depending on whats the best price/performance combo).

Well.. for gaming the 6350 performs better than the 8320. And since you are not going to overclock, it is the higher clock speed that matters when comparing the 6350 vs the 8320 specially for gaming.

But if you are planning to overclock, then definitely go for the 8320.

So, if you are not overclocking, then go for the 6350, but if you are overclocking then go for the 8320.

Also the motherboard is fine for your non-overclocking needs.
The RAM is also good.
The PSU is also good for the price.

And as for the GPU, for 200 dollars, definitely get the 7950 before the stock runs out. You do not want to miss the incredible deal on the 7950. It is a very good GPU for about 200 dollars.

3GB VRAM, 384 Bit wider bus, and you can literally run skyrim with all the high resolution mods without problem, thanks to it's 3GB VRAM which would really help you if you are the person who mods things and put everything high resolution.

So, just grab the 7950 while it is available, you do not want to miss on that deal. Do you?

If I were to OC with the 8320, what mobo would you recommend?
I was thinking of the ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0.

And if I were to get a SSD, whats a good cheap one to get?

Looks like you upped your budget a bit.. Well.. that board is a very good overclocker, also that CPU has huge overclocking potential, so do utilize it.

As for SSD, Samsung 840 EVO is a good SSD for about 90-100 dollars for the 120GB Version. It is damn crazy fast..

Yeah I was able to get a bit more money.
I'm definitely ordering the mobo/cpu now.
Might also order the 7878 for $169.99.

Wait.. the 7950 costs just 10 more dollars after hte Mail-In-Rebates, so opt for that one. It is much better.

1. 7950 has 3GB VRAM vs 2GB VRAM in 7870.
2. 7950 has 384 Bit bus size vs 256 bit bus in 7870.
3. The 7950 is based on the Tahiti GPU which is way more powerful than the one found on 7870 (I cannot exactly remember it's name but it is p..... something..)

So go for the 7950.
