CPU: either 4670k or 4770k, mild overclocking, not hardcore
GPU: Single Card, AT MOST 2 card SLI/Crossfire, never 3 cards

so comment away please~

I'd go the 4670K from what you said, and suggest the Maximus VI Hero, did about 20 Haswell builds before deciding on the Hero for my build and love it, takes everything I throw at it, an that's a lot, I use it to test components for new builds, upgradesm, repairs etc in addition to being my primary workstation

According to asus each product of the z87 series offers about the same overclocking perfomance, but differerent features according to the price. For example the asus z87 pro comes with wifi and bluetooth 4.0, while the cheaper ones do not ( you can buy a wifi card to solve that, they are very cheap). Its up to your budget and your needs

Currently thinking the Cheap and effective Z87-A haha~

So what made the Hero a good choice? compared to say , Z87-A, Z87-PRo, and Sabertooh

As I mentioned above takes all I throw at it, handles DRAM very well (running 32GB 2666), OCs better than the lower end mobos, BIOS has better tuning options, if into audio has the ROG FX 8 channel audio, just the best Z87 I have dealt with so far....if looking at the Z87-A that's a good mobo also, as is the Plus for a few dollars more....
