Hello I first time PC user I bought in hope to play games I have been missing like Rome total war, some horror games, skyrim mods.. The game I am looking foward is Witcher 3...
However now I am getting worried I went over my head and should have invested more in my pc or should have just gone with console.
Mainly my question is will my PC survive next year?

Details.
Intel Core i3-3240 3.4GHz Ivy Bridge Processor
MSI Z77-G41 1155 Motherboard
Patriot Viper III 8GB DDR3-1600 Memory Kit(2X4GB)
Western Digital 1TB Internal Hard Drive
Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti 2GB Graphics Card
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650M High Performance PSU

Solution
The 650 Ti will hold you back a bit, you do have a Z77 motherboard so you could theoretically get a 3570k as an upgrade and get a better GPU on top of that too.

Yes I live in AZ in Phoenix..
Will that graphic card survive though through next year?

I literally just bought my pc so all is brand new, should I ware it down and wait or what do you recommend from that perspective?
PC is not even 3 months old

Oh right... well I guess you could wait till next year when Nvidia and AMD might release their new series based on new tech (unlike the rebrands right now) and plan an upgrade then. That would probably be a good option. You should think about getting the 3570k sometime soon (they should be starting to clear out Ivy Bridge parts since Haswell has been out for a while).

If you get a 3570k or a 7950, you're more than likely going to spend about the same as what you payed for that rig (Estimate).

In reality that rig is fine, obviously not a super high-performance rig but it's suitable for the games you wish to play.

The good news is that with what you have, a decent motherboard and decent power supply you can upgrade your system whenever you want. Another important question is what resolution is your monitor? If we are talking about 1650x1050 versus 1920x1080 or even 2560x1440 (I doubt you have a 1440p monitor) will make a big difference. The lower the resolution the better your system will perform, the higher the resolution the better the games look.

You can certainly try Witcher3 and whatever games you want while turning down some of the eye candy settings, they should play just fine (unless you have a 1440p monitor). If you are happy with your performance great. If not you can upgrade your GPU to anything from a GTX 660 (slight improvement) all the way to a 1000$ GTX Titan (way overkill in your rig).

I agree with previous posters, if you do upgrade the GPU you should then also look to eventually upgrade the CPU to an i5-3570K or i5-4670K. I think the most cost efficient upgrade from a purely gaming point would be to get a single GTX 760 or whatever fits your budget at the time while looking up Toms Hardware "Best GPU for the money that month" article.

Good luck!
