It's not clear what you're asking. Does your computer boot up till you see the desktop? Or does it not?

I had a similar problem with mine last December. When I turned on my computer, it was receiving power, but I wasn't seeing anything on the screen. Turns out my old video card had died. I'm not saying this is your problem, but is my problem similar to yours, or does it just "hang" when you attempt to shut it down?

Well, how could he even get to the desktop to shutdown the system,if it doesn't boot up???? :o
And what's the meaning of this? "The screen goes off but the light coming from the start button does" What's the light and what do you mean start button? please make these clear if you need to troubleshoot issues.

No problem. Go to a computer mechanic he will help you with it. Our suggestions might not work out because ur case is complicated

Oh yeah? Then how are we supposed to help him figure out things? He says Windows doesn't start, and computer doesn't shut down. What am I supposed to understand from that? If the windows doesn't start, how can he even shut down the system? I think you must be having some super powers, that you can read people's mind from their posts on forums.... Be reasonable dude...

And,yes...I must admit the fact that you seem to be an expert.. :p
If he was going to a mechanic, what was the point of this thread? And his case is complicated? Mhm...Interesting...That's why you told me not to post anything if I didn't understand anything...Very good suggestion mate....
