Hello,

I have following PC setup:

Motherboard: MSI X58 Pro-E (stock settings)
CPU: i7 930 / 2.8 GHz (stock speeds / cooler)
RAM: Corsair XMS3 - Memory - 6 GB : 3 x 2 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1333 MHz / PC3-10600 - CL9 - 1.5

On one HDD I have Win7 32-bit installed.
On another I have Win7 64-bit installed.

On Win7 32-bit the system feels sluggish and applications (particularly games) occasionally crash.
On Win7 64-bit the system runs well but bluescreens (MEMORY_MANAGEMENT).

I've run Memtest in following configurations (A,B,C refer to the 3 sticks of 2 GB each)

A B C = Error
A B = Clean
A C = Clean first run (6 passes), but on a second try later it showed Error straight away.
B C = Error
C = Clean

The errors do SEEM to be random but so far I have only seen them when stick C is being used.

So initial findings would point at issues with the stick C.

However, in the BIOS the memory is shown as running at 9-9-9-24 (clock: 667Mhz).
On Memtest and CPU-Z it shows at 8-8-8-19 (clock: 534.4Mhz).

This is regardless of how many / which sticks are plugged in. So I am worried there is actually an issue with the motherboard. Does anyone know of a way I can test this further?

Thanks!

MemTest results you conducted to date are inconclusive. What version of MemTest are you using? Any chance of a screen shot showing the MemTest86 errors?

I would be tempted to try stick C in each slot one at a time next.

From the results you also can't rule out some external issue causing purely random crashes. e.g. power spikes, EMI, high temperatures, bad CPU, etc..

@PassMark: Below is a screenshot of memtest - on this particular one I had raised the voltage to 1.6 to see if maybe that was an issue:

I'm not sure if putting stick C in one slot at a time would work? The motherboard manual says I always have to use slot A0 first.

In terms of "interesting" symptoms. When I run on 32-bit Win7 (limited to 4GB usable) I don't get blue screens, only occasional crashes of individual gaming applications). On 64-bit Win7 (using full 6GB) is where I get the blue screens (MEMORY_MANAGEMENT).

@Tradesman1:

I have tried setting the timings individually to 9-9-9-24 and base clock of 667 and then Memtest and CPU-Z show it as the same. But I still get blue screens on 64-bit Win7
