Hello guys, I recently completed my new desktop and decided to give Windows 7 another go, in addition to my Linux drive. So, after getting it all updated and laden with useful "Windows only" software that I don't necessarily need, the darned thing runs slower than I could have ever have imagined. I honestly have no idea why it's doing this since the Linux boot runs perfectly fast. I've included some specs below that I hope will help you guys. I also, only have a total of 50GBs of used space on the HDD currently. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

OS: Windows 7 Professional
HDD: 500GB WD Caviar Blue
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 980 AM2+
RAM: 8GB DDR2 800MHz

Same problem mate you're better off with Linux. I don't know if you have stumbled across this before but WINE is a great Windows emulator for Linux, if you game alot it is very useful because you can have your windows steam games on it and use the linux steam "add external games" feature to have all your games in one place. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the reply. Well aware that Linux is superior, however with my work, Windows is kind of a requirement for me to access my files from home (well, without hacking into the company account that is). So, I'm kinda stuck with the terrible thing. I usually use WINE on my full Linux desktop for gaming and such, but this time I just tried a dual boot and this lag (especially with the mouse) has got me stumped. But, thanks again for the reply. Cheers.
