Opening attachments in thunderbird

Hi,

I am running Mozilla Thunderbird in Windows 7.
For some reason, all WORD attachments think they are .pdf files!
But when I try and open them I end up with a File Conversion Window which is just gobbledegook to me.
Any help would be welcome.

If you don't actually have Word installed on your system, it will attempt to open the document using whatever application is compatible with the document; in your case, Adobe Reader.

If you do have Word installed on your computer, then the extension association got messed up. Your computer defaults to opening ".doc" files with adobe reader. Go Here
