I was wondering if it was worth putting in the extra $40 to get a Radeon 7950. Many people have been telling me that the 7870 is very close to the power of the 7950. Mainly, I will be playing CoD Ghosts,Black Ops 2, and Battlefield 3. Please tell if there is a significant difference in fps on ultra settings! ☺️

You know they just released the R-2xx series. Might be able to get a R-270x or 280x instead. Both are faster then their respective 7xxx series.

Nah, they are both a little too expensive for my budget. All I really need is something that can play all cod games on ultra with high fps

Difference between 7870 and 7950 is only 7 fps(8-10%) so if u have a tight budget go with 7870 u will not feel the difference.

The 280x is actually slower than the 7970.

Will the 650 be better than the 7870?

Also what is the best motherboard for the i5 3470 under $100. Or do you think I should spend more on the mobo?

powercolor 7950 for $160..... plus the free games

for the money you should skip the 3470 and go with an amd fx6300 for $120, grab a $25 hyper 212 cooler and overclock it to 4.5ghz. you can find a simple mobo for the fx cpu for around $80

anyways.... the cheapest motherboard you can find will work fine as long as you plan on only having a single graphics card and your not trying to set overclocking records.

See the only reason I don't really want an amd fx-6300 is because if the amount of power consumption and I don't really want to make the electricity bill higher

But if I'm wrong and the fx-6300 over clocking does not take a lot of power, then I would gladly switch over to amd

One more thing. Is it worth the extra money to get the GHz edition over the regular 7870? Will it make a significant 15-20 fps raise on COD ghosts?
