I also have a FX-6300

Due to the mid-high end 280x I want to overclock my CPU. Now to the questions:
1) Is my motherboard good for overclocking?
2) Will my PSU be “big” enough?
3) How far can I overclock the 6300

Hi,

1) Yep, you can overclock with that board, It's not amazing for overclocking but it'll be fine if your after a mild to moderate overclock

2) Your PSU is alittle on the weak side considering you want to overclock, perhaps consider a 600W+ PSU. Something like the Corsair TX650W V2

3) With your cooling and motherboard chooses I would say about 4.5Ghz, but overclocking depends alot on the overclocking ability of the CPU.

Thank you for the quick responce, will the corsair cx600 be a good PSU choice?

It's a good choice if you're on a really tight budget, it's one of corsairs cheaper/low end units so it's not as good as the TX/HX/AX/RM line but it'll be fine for your build.

How is the overclock working out for you? And how far did you push it? I have about the same system as you, only difference is i have a CS750M PSU and currently a crappy motherboard that thermal throttles. I was thinking about getting the ASRock 970 EXTREME4 so I could finally overclock my CPU and play some Battlefield without the massive framedrops due to throttling. Please let me know if the board is any good.
