I'm running a H100i max fan RPM and 3960x stock clock and getting some interesting temps.

Idle: 28C min/35C max
Load: 55 normal, goes up to 70 in some cases

What's the max safe temp when overclocking?

Solution
That is about the same themp's I was getting with the H100i on my i5 3570K before the pump went out three months later. I got two of them in January to cool down my FX-8350 and another one to cool down my i5 3570K. On the first one the LED's went out and and only the green would work any other color would just cause the green LED's to blink on and off. Then a month later the pump just died. The second one I came home from work and found my i5 3570K rig had shut down. Powered it on and in the middle of Windows loading the system just shut off. So the second power on I went into the BIOS and check the temps and it was alread up to over 80c and was rising from there so I shut it down knowing what was wrong then.

I have since then replaced...

It hit 68 almost as soon as I start small FFT. It hits 65-70 about 15-30 minutes into blend for a few hours but goes back down to like 50-60.

I ran it 8 hours over night and saw the max was 70, but it was running at 55.

I'm using Core Temp.

I have since then replaced both of the H100i's with full XSPC full water cooling loops. I got a set of XSPC 750 EX360 Extreme water cooling kits(rev.4 punps). It is the best water cooling setup I have ever gotten. Performance wise I think the XSP is much much better than any of the AIO sealed coolers.

Solution

If you are meaning normal being 14° C, how can that be when most people have ambient temps in the 20's C and getting less than that is impossible without refrigeration. 10-15°C over ambient is normal for idle.
When I said not alarming I am presuming short spikes and the 70°C does not exceed the thermal limit on the CPU.

Can you check that post again? I just updated it about how it's mounted.

And how hot do you think is too hot for when I start overclocking?

Basically you are saying that you have 1 200mm fan blowing through it? In that case you are not getting the concentrated flow that the 2 correct size fans would send through the radiator definitely less CFM and therefore less than optimal cooling! Take out the 200mm and mount the correct fans.
Max temp I would be comfortable with is what you are getting or spikes to 70° but preferably not much past 65°C.

It's mounted in a 200mm spot using both stock 120mm fans. I'm wondering if the 40mm it's losing will make much of a difference.

It does have the 200mm fan mounted above it. I thought that would help with some pull better than nothing. Do you think that the 200 fan is causing resistance?

Just a video card. But that's not in use with those temps

I'm probably getting a 800D sometime soon so it's not worth the trouble.

It can do 4.4GHz on stock volts and barely goes over 80 on prime. I'm not too worried about it.
