Which CPU for watching live sports in HD?

I live in Europe but like to watch American sports, and the best way to do this is over the internet. I currently hook my netbook (the only computer I have at the moment) to my HD-ready TV. Unfortunately, the netbook can only connect to it via VGA, therefore I can't get HD quality. The processor (Intel Atom) wouldn't be strong enough anyway, though I can watch in low def.

Basically, what type of system would allow me to stream through my TV at HD quality? I saw someone ask a similar question where a Mini PC Android with a Cortex A9 processor was suggested, but I wonder if this is strong enough. I'm also concerned about weak WiFi reception on those.

For example, NHL GameCenter Live says to watch at the highest quality, the minimum is a "Pentium 4 2.4GHz or higher or equivalent AMD processor with a minimum of 1GB of memory." The Cortex A9 would be much less than that, but would the fact it's Android and not Windows be a factor? For a Mac, they say minimum is "Intel Core Duo 1.5GHz with a minimum of 1GB memory." I wonder about Linux too, as I know a good deal on a laptop with that and a Pentium B960, but I wonder if that would do as it's 2.2 GHz.

I've seen YouTube tutorials where it seems to work, I guess I'm just skeptical about something that looks like a flash drive being powerful enough for something like that. I've read comments about poor WiFi reception on some of those, though, as I don't have the modem in the same room as the TV. I guess if that's an issue, though, I can pick up a booster for a reasonable price.

OK so I've got one of these Android things but ... small problem ... it won't play live. It plays Youtube videos or other video files fine but as far as live streaming no. At least not at any watchable quality. I'm not sure what the process is as they don't seem to provide any kind of tech support. It's got the processor you described -- 2 core with 4 core GPU -- and as I said, videos play in perfect HD if they're not live. I don't know if it's a case of missing codecs or a flash problem or what, I really don't know. The internet signal is fine ... getting around 9 mbps.

Yes I have that app. It works well, except for playing live video -- it simply won't, just buffers endlessly even on the lowest bitrate setting (which is an unwatchable level anyway). But videos, including archived full games, play great -- in full HD completely smooth. It doesn't make sense--what is so different between the live action and archived videos to account for such a difference? It's like it's not getting the data for some reason.

Chrome comes with it automatically, as does a stock browser. I've also downloaded FlashFox (Firefox for Android). It doesn't seem to matter which browser I use.
