HDD stops/freezes with RAID and UEFI

Hey all, I've been busy setting up a RAID 0 array of 3 TB 7200.14 Barracuda's and have run into some problems, my latest of which is the complete but temporary 'freezing' of my HDDs when 1. loading Windows, during the logo screen and 2. during software and driver installations. The HDD activity light stops blinking completely. Windows is still somewhat usable, I can move the mouse, open the start menu and such, but not much else. Installations freeze, web pages don't load, etc. Seems like some controller/queueing problem to me, but I'm no expert.

Also, I installed a non-UEFI Windows on these disks a few days ago (which didn't work because I couldn't address the whole 6 TB), and that worked just fine stability-wise. I'm using the latest Intel SRT(e) 12.8.4.1000 drivers, and even inserted an Intel 'SataDriver' module (http://www.win-raid.com/t19f13-Intel-EFI-quot-SataDriver-quot-quot-GopDriver-quot-BIOS-Modules.html) into my BIOS. Which is the latest MSI ClickBIOS, 4.3.

In this state my computer is pretty much unusable, freezes can take up to a few minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

These drives have a non-recoverable error rate of 1 in 10e14 meaning at 6tb you have something like a 42% chance of the array failing. I beleive this is what you are running into.

Also, if your drive model number does not end in -1ch166 then there is probably a firmware update for it but you will need to be in ahci mode to update them. http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/223651en

Ah you've got to be kidding me! Got my hopes up that a firmware update would solve this, but just found out that I've indeed got the 1ch166 ones.

What a massive failure on Seagate's side. I was happy that I didn't get the China-produced ones, but now this. Also, that this is still a problem so long after release baffles me.

Will get a new set and see if that works out. Thanks for your help!
