Hello everyone,

I just upgraded the T2500 Intel CPU on my old packard bell, with a T7600. After put everything together and trying to boot up the laptop, i get all the leds on,even i hear the fan of the proccessor working for few seconds, but thats all i get, nothing more. I have putted back the old CPU, the laptop boots up again normaly. i have double checked the compatibility with that socket, shouldnt be an issue.
Thanks very much for your time... Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes that it's exactly what I mean! Either 1) go to the computer manufacturers support site and find BIOS update for your model of computer... OR 2) identify the model of the motherboard and go directly to the mono manufacturers support site and get the BIOS update there...

Before you try installing your new CPU again, update your motherboard BIOS. Even if it matches the socket, it won't work if the motherboard manufacturer never bothered to update the BIOS to support the newer! When you checked compatibility did you refer to a compatible processor list specific to the motherboard model or the CPU socket?

To be honest,i havent checked with the MB, i looked up only the CPU socket, to see that are the same.So you mean that even if its the same socket, doesnt mean necessarily that the MB supports that CPU? I guess it makes sence.ok,i ll try to update the Bios, but its an old machine, and im not sure i ll find it,last time i checked at packard bell's website, couldnt find drivers support for mine :S i have looked even with the serial number.any suggstions about this?

Yes that it's exactly what I mean! Either 1) go to the computer manufacturers support site and find BIOS update for your model of computer... OR 2) identify the model of the motherboard and go directly to the mono manufacturers support site and get the BIOS update there. The mono model might physically be labeled on the board, or if you put the old CPU in so you can get it booted running dxdiag might be able to tell you the motherboard. Also if you could start it up the mobo model might be in the CMOS setup.

Sorry for such a late response, I don't have this forum worked into my life as a solid hobby yet :p
