i have failed to update the graphics drivers of my laptop since i upgraded to W8. can anybody out there help me

If your lappy has Intel graphics only, google "Intel HD graphics driver".

If your lappy has Intel graphics and AMD or nVidia, you do the step from above, install those drivers and then go to amd.com or nvidia.com and download the correct driver for your lappy.

If you don't know, you'll have to find out for us in order to help you. Do you have the exact lappy model with you?

Cheers!

EDIT: Typos.

If the laptop has discrete graphics... Get the drivers from the laptop manufacturer's web site.

Most laptops with discrete graphics solutions have non-standard proprietary versions of graphics cards and the only place to get drivers that function are from the laptop manufacturer. Often times, the laptop manufacturers only support one or two graphics driver updates over the life of the laptop. Add to that an OS "upgrade" and you may be SOL because the laptop manufacturer may not have appropriate drivers for the new OS.

To find out what graphics card you're using: Click on Start> Right click Computer> Click Properties> On the bottom left hand side: Click Performance Information and Tools> Right under the ratings on the right there should be: View and print detailed performance and system information. After all that, you can find most hardware models on that page.
