Hi again, currently I have two GTX 670's in SLI, which perform great, but one of them I am selling to my brother (when he buys a new case in two-ish weeks) and I don't want to lose the performance I have.

Buying yet another GTX 670 is not an option because they are expensive now. I was thinking I should get a GTX 780 or the R9 290X when it is avaliable. I will be selling both 670's, but money is not an issue really, but I would rather get what I need rather than go all out.

I will be running 1440p on games like Crysis 2, BF3, LoL, and Amnesia.

What are your opinions? I just want a little advice to make sure I'm making the right choice.

Thanks for any help or advice. :)

Well the 780 is a great card but I'd definitively wait for the 290x.

Buying another $330 670 is miles cheaper than a $650 780, or the ~$700 290x.

But to be clear, are you selling one, or both 670's?

Both. I live in NZ, so my options are much more limited for local stores.

Edit: Exciting news! (for me haha) I just checked my local stores website and the GTX 780 there came down about $50.

The R9 290X will be $1000 here. Is it worth the wait for this card? Or do you think the GTX 780 is a better option for $30 less?

The 290x is far superior to the 780, get the 290x

Okay, I'll wait for that. Yeah, just been looking at some benches and wow. Possibly Titan competition there.

Thanks for your help guys.

I've decided to wait it out for opinions and reviews of either card and it seems like the 780 will be the better choice for me. It ended up being a cheaper than the R9 290X, cooler and quieter with third party coolers already available. Even though the R9 290X is more powerful, I want a quiet card as I am sick of SLI screaming at 80°C and I've seen the 290X push around 80 - 90°C.

With this upgrade, I will now only be spending an effective $36 for this new card, $789 for 780 (LOL) - $402 and $350 for 2x 670s, so excited :p  . It also saves me the trouble of driver switching.

Thanks again everyone for your help.
