I'm working of prolonging the life of an older system; please excuse this nube-ish question. I've put CPU's in machines, but have never swapped an existing CPU for another. I have a MSI P35 Neo 2-FR that currently has a quad core X3210 2.13 ghz that's not on the list of compatible CPU's for my mobo. I have a used Q9650 core2quad 3.0 ghz to put into it that is on the list that I want to swap out, plus a 90mm Zalman to go with it. Other than the usual precautions for handling the bits, are there any other things I should be looking at so to make sure the new CPU is working properly when I power up? I guess I'm assuming that the mobo will recognize the new CPU and treat it appropriately.
