In order to determine the problem... Have you recently performed any upgrades or changes to your laptop (eg. RAM ) ??? Also, what is the make and model of your laptop? - Sometimes, these flashing lights are a code for a problem in your system and by knowing the make and model it may help to find what this 'code' might be signalling.
