This is my first custom pc build, and as money is tight i've been slowly building this thing and do not have all the components. Yesterday i finally got the CPU and tried to fire it up just to make sure everything was working properly.

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-v Pro
CPU: Intel core i7 3770-K

Currently the only parts I have are the motherboard, RAM, and CPU

I stole a hard drive and power supply off of another PC so that i could make sure everything worked as it should

Problem is when i turn it on it seems to start up as normal but the CPU fan doesn't spin right away it takes it a few seconds. Also The CPU LED lights red.

I believe the problem is that the power supply has insufficient power. It was only i believe 250w

If this is the case i need not worry because i'll be getting the right Power supply soon. However if it is something else i need to hurry up and figure out if i need to contact Intel or ASUS Before it is too late.

on the motherboard edge did you plug in the eight pin power plug?? if you did not it not going to post and give you the red led light. if your power supply has only a four pin cpu power plug it will work in the eight pin on the asus mb.

Ok what i did was i found a 500w power supply, and you were right the other one did not have the 8-pin connector. THis one did. It does power up now but it gived be a beep code telling me there is a hardware component failure. The display says "CPU fan error"
