HDD is dying. Have a Windows 8 question.

My computer is a pre-built, and didn't come with a windows 8 disc. I have to order a new HDD, but how will I put Windows 8 on it? I have the Windows 8 product key, but yeah there's no disc.

you download windows 8 from microsoft's website and make a DVD or a USB key. Your computer should have a sticker on it somewhere with the activation code.

If you felt like it, you could clone the OS and all your data using a third-party program like clonezillla (http://clonezilla.org/)
This should work, and windows 8 should be activated even without your product key (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Windows-8-OEM-OA-3.0-Piracy-Genuine-Microsoft,16636.html)

Download the Windows 8 file and run it. Follow the directions to create a DVD.

I tried it. It says my windows 8 key is invalid, even though I'm staring right at them. Ugh..this is a nightmare.

Actually, what it says is "It can't be used to install a retail version of windows 8"
