Computer Specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
ASRock Z87 Extreme4
Intel Core i5 4670K @ 3.40GHz
767MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 1333MHz
ASUS VS238 (1080p)

I'm trying to compare these 3 graphic cards and for now... I see this:
Performance (low to high): R9 270x - GTX 760 - R9 280x
Price (low to high): R9 270x - GTX 760 - R9 280x

I only run on 1 monitor.

What graphics card would you suggest to buy? I only use my computer for school and gaming (new games)

Solution
Personally, as a R9 280x user, i recommend it or you can buy 2 r9 270xs, CrossfireX it, giving better performance. But in my perspective, it all comes down to personal preference

I think that if you can afford the R9 280X then go for it. If you're looking for pure price/performance, then don't rule out the good ol' HD 7950, for as low as $180 it will perform just as well if not better than the 760.

Agree. I have a 7950 and I got it for $340. Can't believe it's $180 now.. such a steal!

I agree about the 7950, it is awesome for the price, it can easily be o/c to perform the same as a stock 7970GHz (hence R9-280x) and score over 8400 in Firestrike. Just make sure is has a good cooler. I find the HIS ICEq to be awesome and all the heat is expelled out of the PC, not inside. The air temperature around the graphics cards never rises to a few degrees above ambient.
Avoid XFX DD like the plague, their coolers are appalling, the GPU quickly rises to over 95C and the back of the card can be the same. I had 2 cards, both like this.

So the 7950 has a better performance/price ratio is what you all are saying. BUT I pay 20 dollars more for a GTX 760 (I don't see a good 7950 for 180 dollars) for like 5-10% more performance.

So isn't the GTX 760 really cheap for its performance and almost the same as a good 7950?

Cheapest cards on Newegg:
1) XFX Double D 7950 ($199)
2) Zotac Geforce 760 ($234)
