How to overclock an AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor

I was wondering how I should go about overclocking this processor with the following build:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0 GHz
MOBO: gigabyte s-series GA-MA78LMT-S2/GA-MA78LMT-S2H
RAM: Ripjaws x series 8 GB (2x4GB) http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231455
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5700 series
OS: Windows 7 - 64 bit

I have three fans in my case (including power supply) and don`t plan on adding extra cooling anytime soon.

  1. Here's a guide: http://www.overclock.net/t/777378/official-gappos-little-deneb-thuban-overclocking-guide-with-too-many-smileys/0_100 All K10 chips clock the same way;except with a Propus,You might want to have the HT link same as CPU/NB..DOn't quote me on that, though. :)

    Bus speed 241
    multiplier 14.5

= 3.5 ghz thats what i run with mine on air with an HD 5770 (950 / 1435)

    hope that helps
  4. What voltage are you using, please? I know it's different protcessor to processor - just to imagine where I should start.
  5. 3.5-3.7 is a good overclock for those chips on air.
