I have an HP pro 3010, core2duo which has been working well until recently, when i plug it in power, the fans run, DVD ROM is powered and the LED in power supply comes on, but the LED in the power button stays off and no display on screen. This exact problem happened 2 weeks ago but the PC worked again after 1 day.
Please advice.

I'll venture your PSU is beginning to fail. But, before coming to that conclusion...
When you restarted the computer after the first time it happened, did the computer tell you to set the system clock? If so, then replacing the CMOS battery on the motherboard may solve your issues - it's usually easily replaced and not very costly (~$4).
If not the CMOS battery, then your most likely culprit here is the PSU. Your system seems to use a standard ATX size 300W PSU, a replacement from such quality brands as Antec, FSP, Corsair, or Seasonic should be rather easy to locate.

Thanks C12Friedman, It did not ask me to set the system clock the 1st time it happened, so i guess that eliminates the possibility of a low CMOS battery.

Before concluding it is the PSU, open the case and check the motherboard for any lit led's that may indicate other fault, I'll suggest trying to start it while watching for led's also. You might all check connections to ensure none have become loose (with computer off)
