should i upgrade to a gtx780 from a gtx 660?

Honestly, I don't see the 800's (If they're even going to be called that 
) coming out anytime soon.
780 has higher performance ; 770 has better performance per dollar.....
780 has 14% more performance ... at 1920 x 1080

I'd invest in twin 770s before id do a single 780.
So to answer your question -- save a couple hundred bucks and pick up a 770 instead, or maybe two for that matter.

At the moment I play BF3, Planetside 2, Arma3... I'm waiting for BF4 and GTA5 if it ever comes out for PC
