I want to add the best sound card available today. I use my PC mainly for gaming, and then movie and music. I occasionally use for basic video and audio editing. The following are my requirements:

Very high clarity or let’s say max possible signal to noise ratio or let’s say high audio performance. Wide frequency response say what human ear can hear. Max sample rate and resolution support. Gaming technologies support like EAX and others though I am not sure what all has come now. My on board card is VIA on ASUS board so it does not have all this hence but obviously I want those features. Or let’s say max api compliant standards. I will be using 2 channel or stereo speakers as I don't have space for 5.1 or 7.1 speaker configuration so surround sound and other multichannel is out of the requirement.

Please guide me. Very much thanks in advance to all who will provide me any guidance.

If I am not wrong there is a tie here. Asus supports frequencies from 10 hz to 20,000 hz but does support EAX. Creative has that but the best card has frequencies from 100 hz to 20,000 hz. For a professional this is important. Either way there is something to lose. :)

Sorry for reopening this post. I was thinking this is the best: Creative Sound Blaster ZxR. One reason I want this is that it supports EAX while Asus xonar STX does not. Now My question is Do almost all games have eax support. Since Eax is there from many years so if buying a sound card why not have all the features though of course its very costly. What do you say?
