I am looking for the best pci-e video card I can put in my 4 year old Dell Inspiron 519 to make it last a few more years that wont bottle neck the CPU. I am not looking to play the newest games as I usually get them for my 360 these days but still want the best performance for the older games I do play and for online videos and such. I would prefer a EVGA Geforce or an AMD Sapphire. I could easily see spending 150$ but don't know if it would be worth buying the newest 250$ card if it will be outdated buy the time I buy a new PC in a couple years.

Specs.

Dell Inspiron 519
530watt Power Supply
AMD Athlon X2 2.9ghz 5600+
8GB PC2-6400 RAM
Video Card- Undecided
Vista Home Premium 64-bit(Soon to be Windows 7)

I might get a back into PC gaming like a did from 1996-05 and will surely pick up some of the titles I have missed out on the last few years so I would like to get something decent.

I was always an Nvidia fan due to them buying up what was left of 3dFx( Voodoo 3 2000/3000 anyone) and have had many of there cards upto to 6/7k series but never an AMD GPU. I have been loyal to AMD CPU ever since my K6-2 450mhz bare bones system I built.

I think I would like to go all AMD this time since my CPU is AMD also but at the end of they day they are both great products and take an overclocking very well :)

I think the bios cpu speed settings are locked because it is an OEM pc but I don't plan on O/C this one anyways.

Also my pci-e slot is only 2.0 if that could create a bottleneck also.

The pci-e slot wont create any bottleneck even if it was a 1.0
