Hi,

As the title suggests I am thinking about trying to upgrade my current pc which I mainly use for gaming and have a bunch of questions which I am hoping you might be able to help me with pls :) (Sorry this is a bit wordy but just trying to give you as much as info as poss)

I, like most people, try to get good bang for my buck when I buy pc parts and also like to get something that will last me for a while. I have bought components in the past that dont match together very well and have caused bottlenecks in my system which I am trying to avoid this time.

Ok for starters here is my current spec

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 (Deneb 125w) stock cooler
MB: Gigabyte GA-770T-USB3
RAM: G Skill Ripjaws 4 Gb (2x2Gb) F3-12800CL7-2680 (PC3-10700)
GFX: HIS ICEQ Turbo 6950 2048MB running at 840Mhz Core 1280 Mem Clock
Power: XFX 850W
Main HD: Seagate 500GB standard drive
Case: Antec P180

I use my system for gaming (including things like bf3 and hopefully bf4 and other less demanding stuff) and general use (web browsing, watching vid etc etc). I dont expect to run games at ultra settings but would hope to run them fairly high and maintain a good frame rate (ideally 60hz)

I have 3 x 21.5 basic monitors that I have set up for eyefinity running at 1920x1080 individually so 5760x1080 approx in eyefinity mode, but sometimes just use one monitor depending on whether the game is suitable.

Ok question number 1 : Do you think it is worth upgrading at the moment, I am not too sure if I will get/need a big enough jump in performance or if i should save my cash for a bit and keep what I have?

I have done a bit of research presuming that it might be a good idea to improve things and have come up with the following ideas. (Happy to keep my money in my pocket for a bit longer if it's not really worth it atmo)

Looking at maybe buying,

Hard Drive: Samsung 840 Pro SSD to use as my windows drive plus space for a couple of games.
Graphics Card: HIS HD 7950 IceQ Boost 3072 MB (been having a look at the guides on here).
CPU: I5 4670K or AMD Piledriver FX-8 4Ghz
Motherboard: ?
RAM: ? no idea how fast or how much
(Presuming my current case and power supply are ok)

Do you think these would be good purchases for what I want to do or would you recommend something else.? Not sure if some of it may be more or less than I need? Also I have no idea about motherboards and ram to go with the cpu so any advice on that front would be great.

Thanks a lot if you got this far and stayed awake and can offer me any advice :)

NB I am uk based and I dont expect people to find deals from here, I know a lot of the community are based in the US. So if you could point me in the right direction I can research pricing over here on my own, thanks :)

Apologies I am new to the forum and this format but I seem to have done something wrong. Someone had replied to my original post, and I then replied to them and when I last checked my post was near the top of the forum, now both the replies that were posted have disappeared and my thread has moved down the list on to another page, did I do something wrong?
