Cant seem to install the onboard VGA driver

hi, ive just built a new system and it has the MSI z87 G45 motherboard. ive stalled all driver apart from the VGA drivers as it says (The system does not meet the requitments) something along them lines. what does this mean ?

i also have a 7970 matrix platinum card in this build. ive installed the drivers for this. but cant seem to load a game, really dont know the problem. Also once i installed the Command center for MSi motherboards, it dont allow me to open it, it says something about using a VGA generic, and says i need to install the software from the hardware manufacturer. i seriously dont know what to do, have a done something wrong. is it a driver issue.

Well,if you have a GPU in your system,the onboard Graphics are automaticlly disabled. So what you need to install is not the Onboard graphics driver,but the driver for your GPU,here the 7970. You can go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your GPU and install them. It should work fine.
Also,if you've already installed the drivers,just check out under the DirectX Diagnostic Tool's Display tab to see that the current device is your 7970 and the drivers are proper. If you feel like the problem is not any of these,just boot the system in safe mode,uninstall all previous drivers and install the fresh drivers. Take care while installing the VGA drivers,since the Display driver for your discrete GPU is what you must install,not that of the Integrated Graphics.

It is still possible to install the onboard video drivers even if your current display is hooked up to a pci express vga card.

Hi thanks for your replys guys. I've installed the drivers that came on the cd with the graphics card. I haven't enabled the onboard graphics through bios, should I do that? I've heard that the onboard graphics and graphics card work together, is that true. And should I install the latest driver for the graphics card through the asus website, ? I did reinstall windows and reinstalled the driver and I tried FIFA 14 and it worked. But there is a slight lag in the game, is this coz I ain't installed the latest drivers for the graphics are and ain't enabled the on board graphics? Still can't seem to install the command centre, the same problem is still there with that, what could that be.

Well,you can't make both onboard and GPU to work together. You'll have to disable either one.Something which enables you to do that is Hybrid CrossFire,which only is possible with an AMD APU and appropriate GPU.
Well,it's always a good choice to get the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website,and install them in your system,since they can fix bugs and make your gaming experience even better.And about the slight lag,that's not because you haven't enabled the onboard graphics,guess that's the problem with the GPU drivers. Get the latest one for your GPU. You should be fine.

Well,about the MSI commander,what CPU do you use?There have been some reported issues with Command center not working if the intel turning utility wasn't installed.
Also,I read somewhere that you should make sure that any lucid or gpu virtualization software is disabled.

Installing the onboard drivers allows him to interchange between the pci-ex and onboard vga if he wants to. This is especially useful if the pci-ex card should ever fail.

Enable onboard graphics in bios. Then install the video driver in windows.

It is always good to have the latest drivers installed as they provide the latest performance/bug fixes for games. Install the latest graphics driver from the amd website rather than asus as amd tend to update drivers faster than asus. Go here to do this:

You cannot get the onboard and pci-ex cards to work together unfortunately.

So,you think he'll give up the beast-like performance of the 7970 for some Onboard graphics,interchanging them?Seriously that's the funniest thing I hear today.Well,I don't find a reason for him doing that.

Oh....That's interesting....So you mean his system won't boot up,should the VGA Card fail,unless he has the onboard graphics drivers installed? Are you joking? I don't find anything useful about installing the drivers now,since even if the card fails,he can connect the monitor to his Motherboard's VGA port,and he can install the onboard vga drivers thereafter. So,what's the point in doing that at this moment?

Being able to switch from pci-ex to onboard is a good diagnostic tool to help troubleshoot video card problems.

Personally, when my card has just failed, the last thing I want to bother doing is searching for and installing the onboard drivers.

The OP has himself asked for assistance installing the onboard video drivers so whether or not it goes against your nature, I've simply tried to help him achieve what he asked for. If he sees some merit in installing the onboard drivers I'm not going to stop him.

About diagnosing troubles,why do you say that? You could install the drivers when necessary. Why do that so early,at this moment when it doesn't prove to be helpful with the IGFX disabled? Oh....If it's about him asking how to install the onboard VGA drivers,okay go on tell him...

Perhaps if you had as much experience dealing with video card issues, you would see the merit in this. He has only to gain from installing the drivers so I dont see what the harm in it is. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

Feel free to reply but Im honestly done arguing with you. If you have trouble letting things go or having your errors pointed out, a therapist is more suited to your needs than these forums.

Actually I meant no offense. Anyway,I was just pointing out that installing the IGFX drivers was not a necessity right now,not that it was a harm to do that.
And,I'm not having trouble having my errors pointed out.Though,I didn't find anything wrong from my part,which was why I kept on stating my opinion. Anyway,I'll consider that part-meeting with a therapist...Let it go for now...I'm done arguing too....

Thank for your reply, when I get home I will install the latest graphics driver and I have the new i5 4670k, what do I need to do to make the command centre work coz I really need that lol.

When I install the new copy of the drivers, should I override the old ones or delete the old ones first then install the new ones

hi just seen this messege now, didnt do it through safe mode but ive done it through normal windows. the new copy has been installed but when i go into CCC, there hardly eni options there for me. the only one i can see is hydravision. Btw do i need to do the drivers again as i didnt un install them through safe mode.

Nope....I think there is something wrong wth the driver. Did you get the latest drivers? What's the version? And,if you're sure that's the latest one,do a registry clean software like cleaner after uninstalling the drivers,and then try to reinstall it

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was the new one and yeah I did so a registry clean before I installed the new ones. Could you please check if I've installed the right ones. The card is 7970 matrix platinum and I installed the new one which was bout 400mb and the other two that were there are like 200mb. Thanks
