Hi,

I am looking to build a budget gaming rig for $1000-$1100. I'll be shipping to Dubai (PC parts are crazy expensive here), so will be incurring around $180 of shipping costs which are not included in the budget for the PC.

I have come up with a configuration - wanted suggestions on what could or should be changed in it:

  • ■ Seagate ST1000DX001 1TB MLC/8GB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 3.5" Desktop Solid State Hybrid Drive - $100

    ■ EVGA GeForce GTX 770 DUAL SuperClocked 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 - $440

    ■ Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - $35

    ■ Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz + CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W + ASRock Z87 Extreme3 LGA 1150 + G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 1600 (Combo) - $519

    Total = $1094

I will be getting the case separately from here because shipping it will cost too much - I have budgeted $200 exclusively for that (again not included in the above $1000-$1100).

I know the PSU and the motherboard might be a bit of an overkill for the current graphics card, but I want to get it for SLI possibly in the future.

So guys, any suggestions? Thanks

BTW, I'm based in Dubai too...
You're better off purchasing from al ain center or gear-up.me for local warranty.

Trust me. You risk DOA with getting em shipped from the USA.
Only thing you do miss is the free games that come bundled with GPUs these days :)

P.S. 770 is too expensive in Dubai. -- 1700Dhs ($461)
P.P.S. R9 280X is 1300Dhs. ($353)

I just built my rig last night with mostly the same config, except the GPU.
An SSD will make a HUGE difference, I still can`t believe how fast my PC is.

I went with a mATX and a small case, because I might move a lot, and want the PC to take as least space as possible.

And as for the GPU, I still have to buy it in the next days, and I`ll go for a Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X.
You will most likely not notice any difference in performance between the 770 and 7970, but you WILL notice the difference in price, and also the 7970 comes with the bundle of games, unlike the R9 280x.

My recommendation - go for a HD 7970 Ghz Edition, and make sure you get a well ventilated case and an SSD.

Hi guys,

Ok, going to see how much the SSD swap costs.

@rockstar_7: Just going through gear-up.me. Are the prices there comparable to Al-Ain center? I did have the warranty problem in mind - thanks for the suggestion.

@aydterracer2005: Newegg

@Pr3di: I am into some games which use PhysX and at least for now don't do too well with AMD (Project CARS). But I'll look deeper into the Vapor X, whether it brings in more performance as compared to the other 7970s I was looking at.

@Pr3di: No Antec option at the site I'm looking at. Extreme3 is ATX - so Cooler Master K380 seemed like a reasonable option but I have yet to see if a Hyper 212 will fit and whether there will be enough space for future SLI.

I checked out a local online store (gear-up.me), prices are higher but at least I get warranty. Had to swap some of the components and after slotting in a SSD this is how it looks like.

Everything is the same as above except:
- Had to swap G.Skill 8 GB with Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2133 Mhz)
- Put in a 120 GB Crucial M500 SSD and kept the 1 TB SHDD
- Don't have the EVGA GTX 770 available. Instead have 3 options available which I am looking at and am confused about MSI N770 TF 4GB OC / MSI N770 2GB Lightning / GIGABYTE GTX770 4GB OC. Which one should I go for considering they are the same price. I know Lightning is the fastest but still 4GB provides a bit of future proofing?

Yes, some items are better priced on 'gear-up' when compared to Al Ain

Heres a recommended spec list:

Cases are kinda expensive in Dubai. Depends on what you like though :)
This seems like a great case :) ~ AeroCool Strike X Devil Red
http://gear-up.me/chassis-and-psu/chassis/pc-case-without-psu-aerocool-strike-x-xtreme-devil-red-2x-usb3-0.html

P.S. Optional PSU
Corsair tx750 ~530Dhs
http://gear-up.me/corsair-supply-tx750-v2-80-plus-bronze-atx-750w.html

P.P.S. Gaming @1080P ~2GB Dedicated GPU Memory is more than enough
The 770 is overpriced in Dubai, please dont go for that
which is why i recommended the 3GB R9 280x above..
for that furure-proof headroom, just in case you wanna go 2560x1440

Good Luck! :p

Thanks for the info. Am trying to place the order, but some issue with paypal at gear-up.me
Won't process the payment!

I went to Al Ain too. Got the processor off cheaper than gear-up.me but most of the other stuff was more expensive.

Don't worry. It should work :)
