Hi,

I am looking for a measure that will allow me to connect 3.5 inch HDD sized 3TB to USB of a laptop, which is running the operating system Windows 7. I noticed this docking station, that based on its product page on the manufacturer's site, supports 2.5 and 3.5 inch HDD up to size of 3TB. In addition, it says that there is a support for USB 3.0 connection, and that this docking station comes with a power-supply.

Does this product fit, or there is a better alternative?

For a single drive you can buy a 3.5-inch external enclosure which also plugs in to a USB port, but do check that it supports 3TB drives before buying. There's a selection here from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=3.5%20inch%20enclosures

A docking station only makes sense if you've got several drives that you need to access externally from a single USB port on your PC, since buying an enclosure for each of them would probably cost more than a docking station, and each would need it's own USB port so you may not have enough ports available.

If you only have the one drive it makes more sense to buy an enclosure. They are still fairly versatile, you can easily remove a drive and put a different one in to it if ever you need to in the future.
