i have a graphics card with DVI ports but my monitor has a VGA cable only

i have a graphics card with DVI ports but my monitor only have a VGA cable.. can i plug my monitor to the motherboard's vga port and will my graphics card still works?

i know i can buy DVI cable in cheap price but as long as possible i don't to spend money..

Solution
Your graphics card should have come with at least one DVI to VGA adapter. You should use this to connect your graphic card's DVI port to your monitor's VGA port.
