I'm looking to get a new case that is well sound insulated. The case has to fit a full ATX board and GTX480 card. Looks does not matter I just want it to be well sound insulated. Any help would be well appreciated. I will be doing AIR cooling
The Fractal Design Define R4 is amazingly quiet. I am impressed. Also has great airflow. You can get it now on sale for under $100. Even not on sale though, this case is well worth the money. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352020
Thank you if nobody else replies to this with some other models this will be the winner and ill pick yours as best answer.
R4 is not silent. Not even close.
Here you have dead silet cpu cooler. http://www.silentpcreview.com/NoFan_CR-95C_Copper
You can put it in any case. And it is not making any sound at all.
If you get your gpu working silent as well. Then you have silent build.
Case is not making any kind of sound. Fans are. Remove fans and any case is really silent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DezNtDZYQBQ

I am not sure what you are implying but the case is definitely quiet. The dampening works great and you cant hear anything iside assuming you do not use the top fan or side slots. To be honest, they are not needed unless you go with a 120mm liquid CPU cooler. The two 140's in front and 1 in back with a CPU cooler will be extremely quiet and cool really well.

I still dont see your point. It is quiet. I have the case and can vouch for that fact. There is no cooling issue. Maybe you can get a few degrees by doing something out of the norm but who really cares? There wont be an overheating issue so what does it matter.
No it is not. It just makes noise more.. look this. Noise dampening material makes nothing difrence to noise levels. Here it is said. 4min after start. Noise may be deeper not quieter. So it is better buy quiet parts to build than quiet case? If noise dampening material is not working so well that all think it will work? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asc9YA32rBc

Obviously quieter parts are better. That goes for a silent case or regular case but all things identical minus the case, the silent with sound dampening material wins. You are still showing cooling. Really? That shows cases that arent even made for quiet. The point is to have a quiet case with adequate cooling. The Define R4 is that. I am done debating though. And if you like their forum better, go be a troll on their forums.
If fractal define R4 is hotter than other case? Can it really be silent? No.
Because it needs more fan to make better air flow. No case makes any noise untill you push button. Right? Then it comes down to fans. If you need fans to cool your build down. Then you have noise? If you have no fans in your system. Then it is silent. Cood case do not need more than one 120-140mm fan to make it cool enough. So is fractal define R4 a good silent case with 3 fans ? IMO no! How silent you want?
I do think that Noise Blocker PRO 700rpm fan is too loud. How about you?
