Hi Guys
THis is My system :

CPU : Core i7 950
M.B : Asrock x58 Extreme 3
RAM : 6Gb 2000Mhz
VGA : GTx 770 SLI

so if i buy a Intel Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E Processor , will i notice a big difference on games ? will it improve fps of games on 1080p ?

and can i use it with my M.B ? or i should upgrade my M.B Too ?

Solution
Well.. as for now, looks like you should upgrade, your CPU is probably bottlenecking two 770 SLI. But anyways, for gaming, the fastest CPU on the market right now is the 4770k, so I think that you should go for the 4770k and a good Z87 motherboard.

Go for this combo. It makes a good upgrade.

Depends on what games you are playing. If you are getting CPU bottlenecked then yes, you will see an improvement. However the 4930k is overkill for most games so you'd be wasting some of that extra performance.

And yes, you would need to get a new mobo. 4930k uses LGA 2011 socket and isn't compatible with the socket type the i7-900 series uses.

What about games like Crysis 3 And Metro last light

and if its overkill , how about 4770k ? does it worth the change ?

Even for Crysis 3 and M:LL, the 4930k is more than what you need. i7-4770k could handle those games just fine. the 4930k will probably last you longer, though, moving forward.

There's also the issue of the LGA 2011 vs LGA 1150 socket. 4770k requires LGA 1150. But LGA 2011 gets you 40 PCI-e lanes (so SLI won't have to share PCI-e lanes) and quad-channel memory and some other stuff that you can't get with 1150.

If I were you, I'd go for the 4820 rather than the 4930. I doubt you'd see any difference between the two, and you'd save $300+

BTW, I have a 3930k, and I almost never get all 6 cores running at any decent level. If I could save someone else from spending the extra $300 for nothing, I would.

I went from a Ci7 920 (OC to 4.2) to the 3930. The difference was HUGE, plus used far less power.

When you consider the 4820 is $60 cheaper than the 4770, the cost of the whole platform evens out. Then the comparison is more between having the integrated GPU and 4 more 6Gb SATA ports or extra PCIe lanes, 2MB more L3 cache, and additional memory capacity.

The 4820 operates in dual channel mode as fast as the 4770, if you just want to use two memory sticks. Quad channel mode adds latency but increases bandwidth, leaving it at a wash.

You need not spend any more than this for your upgrade. This is more than enough for gaming purposes.
