I have an 8 GB Maxflash usb drive that says it is under write protect. I have tried going through command line, registry, and Linux and have not been able to get past this write protect. I have heard of brute force programs that will force past the write protect and format the drive. I have tried one...but it could not find the flash drive even though when plugged in Windows 8 tells me I have pled in a usb storage device and that's it's corrupted and what not. I had two Linux gurus spend an hour each on this thing and cannot figure it out. I refuse to give up on this thing without exhausting all options. I am willing to try DOS in safe mode if I can get a good walk-through on it, but I can't find any with decent detail. Thanks in advance.

It's a matter of saving 10 bucks and sticking to it. If brute force and DOS fail I'll pitch it in the trash and get a new one, but I've never had this issue before and I want to see if I can handle it.
