I have seen similar questions posted, but I would like your opinions on my specific situation. I have been saving money to upgrade my setup and I just sold my graphics card and monitor and now I have about $1200 or so to spend. I could spend up to $1400 if needed but I would prefer not to. My current rig is;

i7-3770k @4.5ghz w. Corsair H100
Asus P8Z77 Deluxe Mobo
Corsair Vengeance 4x4
Samsung 840 evo 240gb SSD / WD 3tb intellipower HDD

Graphics Cards
Option 1 - EVGA 780 Classified (it's only $40 more than the other 780's so I figured I might as well). $699.99
Option 2 - R9 290x. I hear good things but would like to see more benchmarks than just BioShock infinite and Tomb Raider before I make a decision. $729.99ish?

Was going to get the 780 but when I learned the release of the 290 was near I figured I should at least wait. Event if I don't get the 290, perhaps the 780 price will drop a little :).

Displays

Option 1 - 3x Asus VG248QE 24" 1ms to run in Eyefinity / Surround at 5760x1080. I can get 3 for about $700 brand new through a friend. Would be a bit over budget.
Option 2 - Asus PB278Q 27" 5ms PLS at 2560x1440. $559.99 at newegg
Option 3 - Dell U2713HM 27" 8ms IPS at 2560x1440 $539.99 at newegg now until the 10/31

I will be using this for gaming, and gaming only. I play all sorts of games from not very graphic demanding games like CS:GO and WOW all the way to BF3/4 and Crysis 3. According to this benchmark, I would see FPS between 35 and 45 on ultra at 5760x1080 and between 45 and 65 on ultra at 2560x1440. At least that's what it says about the 780, I'm guessing the R9 will be similar if not better but I don't know.

I have had an eyefinity setup before and thought it was really cool but I have never played on a 2560x1440 display before and I hear its magnificent. Most stuff I read says once you try 2560x1440, you can't go back. Hoping to hear from some people who have tried both or really any opinions for that matter. Thanks in advance!

Solution
I have seen both and in my opinion 2560x1440 is way better due to the high pixel density image is much more sharper than 3x1080p and in tripple monitor bezels between the monitors ruin every thing.

Let R9 290x release and then decide after seeing the benchmarks

Thanks for the reply. Which of the 2560x1440 monitors would you suggest for gaming?

Both have good reviews. The Asus PB278Q has Wide High Quality Definition and a PLS panel and a 5ms response time. The Dell monitor U2713HM have the same panel but the response time is higher and the U2713H is slated primarily for graphic design and photo editing work.

In some of the descriptions that I have read on of the Dell monitors it seems like they were made for professional work and not gaming. So I would go with the Asus monitor. Everyone says that the Dell's are great but it's all graphic designers and photo editors that are saying that.
