Hey! I've searched the web high and low and not been able to find an answer.
I have, what I think, an OK cpu with good specifications but still encounter problems playing games with it. It buffers and lags at some occations when there are big graphical areas and views displayed or many things happening at the same time in first player shotters. Even if I reduce graphics I can experience this.

GeForce GT 650M (drivers updated)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3615QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
10gb ram
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

I run Windows on bootcamp from a macbookpro, and the games i've been trying out is old games such as assasins creed 1 & 2 and crysis. For example these 2 works perfectly normally but then in game all of a sudden they can start to buffer or lag.

So my question is: Is there something wrong with my CPU

OK, fine, I'll repost to this thread.

Well, there are a few things here that may be your problem:
1. the memory config. To get a properly performing dual channel memory config, both channels need to be the same size DIMM. It looks like yours is probably a 2GB DIMM and an 8GB DIMM. This will cause most of your memory to operate in single channel mode. Get a pair of 4GB DIMMS and you'll probably get much better performance
2. it's a mobile setup. If you're running on battery power, it won't ramp up turbo speeds above 2.3GHz, making it perform much worse. Also, with some configs, it will run the integrated GPU on battery power and turn off the discrete GPU, hurting performance. Running on an AC adapter should keep your performance up.
3. The size/ resolution of your screen may be a factor. If you have a high res screen, and that little 650M can't handle it, it might be best to tune down the resolution of the game to get better performance.

But I guess it performs better with this amount ram compared with my earlier 4? Is there any side effects besided that?

The thing is that I have played more advanced games before without encountering this, it's just appeared. I suspect that I need to reinstall windows because i've been reinstalling windows for other reasons then that this before.

Do you have any advice on keeping the cpu cooled?
