Hi i wanted to pick a processor for a furture build and wondered which CPU would be better for my needs. both processors cost around the same price and i wanted to get the best CPU for a £180 budget. i will be using this system for Video Editing, Photo Editing, coding and running Virtual Machines in VirtualBox.
Also since both chips are socket 1155 can i just go with a Z77 Motherboard even if i went with the Xeon?

Any Reply would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Get the 3570k since your not operating a server.

if you are overclocking, get the 3570k, if not, get the xeon since its basically a locked i7. it will be faster in multihreaded task like yours. and yes, itll work on a z77 board

For your uses get the XEON it is basically an I7 and your uses will benefit from its multithread capability. The I5 if it was a gaming rig. The 1230 V2 is Ivy bridge just like the 3570K so same generation.

Yes it is the other uses that call for the XEON but it is a fully capable gaming CPU and can keep up with any card(s) on the market. Only reason to take the I5 over it would be fore OC and higher benchmarks numbers gaming only.
