Should windows 8.1 take up about 50 gb on a ssd?

It could easily add up to 50GB if you add in pagefile and hibernation file. Have you disabled hibernation, and trimmed the pagefile?

1. Open an Elevated Command Prompt.
2. In the elevated command prompt, type powercfg -h off and press Enter. (see screenshot below)
3. Close the elevated command prompt.

Text slightly different for Windows 8, but you'll figure it out.

I use 1024MB min and max on my system.
