When I bootup my computer, Windows 8.1 will load, but then stop. The cursor will stop spinning. When I restart it will load up fine again, or when I shut down. It's every second time when I shut it down, it will freeze? It seems like it's a software issue?

I have an identical problem. I have a Dell M6800.. When I turn it on after several hours shut off the system will not boot. I then turn it off, and turn it back on, and it boots fine. I have looked all over for an answer and no one has yet come up with one. Maybe Microsoft should take interest and suggest an answer. If enough customers raise the problem they might show interest.

I am hesitant to claim success but here it is for what it is worth: While trying to solve a problem with my biometric reader in my Dell M6800 computer I updated all the drivers dated after October 2013. The bios update was dated December 2013. Upon updating all the drivers I did turn off my computer and left it off for 4 hours or more. Surprise, surprise, it booted ok without stopping like the reported problem calls for. I have booted it again about 3 times without the hangup problem. I am always skeptical about these problems because they disappear for a while and then later on reappear. If I get the problem again I'll report it here again. Meanwhile I continue to pray that the solution is there.

If anyone knows how to get the Dell Control vault/and Fingerprint reader working on a dell m6800 workstation using Windows 8.1 please let me know, pedroporrata@gmail.com

It continues to boot ok. without my having to shut off and reboot. On the other hand I have received a couple of boot errors where the computer actually reboots on its own. This problem is not recurrent. And it has not shown up in the last 3 boots.
