Hey guys, I currently have an AMD phenom 9150 quad-core (1.8ghz)

I don't have much time these days for any hardcore MMO'ing, but I do want to play the new Final Fantasy XIV in my spare time. Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a GPU that will run FF okay, but not be wasted money due to my poor CPU. (I did have a Geforce gt 240, but the heat sink died) and that ran it pretty well in the beta.

I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to find a replacement card, but I only barely understand the differences between card series. (GT GTX 240, 440, etc)

I will get around to updating someday, but for now I just don't have the time.

Thanks in advance!

A 7770 should fit the bill for you, and should run FF14 pretty well

you're amazing. Thanks so much. I'd ask you to explain why, but I'd probably need a bit more coffee before I understood it.

EDIT: the latest (a realm reborn) recommends a 560 Ti so I'm not so sure about higher settings
A 7770 is probably the best your CPU can handle, and I would guess it can run pretty well at medium settings or so (they lowered the minimum requirements so more people could play too apparently) :)

yeah, I'm not sure how that would have compared to my GT 240, but that did run it pretty well (I'm sure it was medium settings or some such with zero issues in terms of gameplay). I really appreciate your help.

Taking a look at the 7770's now.
